Galeries Lafayette recently opened a dedicated pre-owned watch and jewellery space in Paris on 13 July, featuring the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned programme for Rolex timepieces and Kronos 360 for the rest of its offering.
18/07/2024 Montres de LuxeOver the past decade, the pre-owned market, and the pre-owned watch market in particular, has changed considerably.
Once regarded as a secondary market and largely overlooked, it is now recognised by the world’s leading brands, which, well aware of its significant potential, have decided to take matters into their own hands.
Today, most major Swiss watchmakers are looking to manage the resale of their timepieces directly. This is the case for Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, F.P. Journe, Urwerk, MB&F and many others. Since 1 December 2022, Rolex has also joined this trend with its Certified Pre-Owned programme.
This is the programme now offered at Galeries Lafayette, allowing customers to purchase a pre-owned Rolex with complete peace of mind and full assurance as to its authenticity.
For the other brands featured in its “pre-owned watches” space, the department store has partnered with Kronos 360. The platform specialises in facilitating and securing high-value watch transactions. Upon purchase, customers receive a certificate of authenticity and warranty in the form of a blockchain-based NFT.
On the jewellery side, Castafiore, a specialist in the buying and selling of pre-owned vintage and antique jewellery, will offer a selection curated specifically for Galeries Lafayette.
