Whether you made it to Salone del Mobile or just watched it unfold on social media, it was hard to deny that something big took place at Milan Design Week this year. Indeed, more than 300,000 buyers, designers, and other professionals made it to the Italian metropolis to browse, network, shop, and party—a 15% increase in attendance over 2022. (Unlike last year, China had a major presence, making up the second largest number of attendees after Italy.)

After doing our fair share of all of the above, here’s what’s sticking with us from Milan Design Week 2023—from products and exhibitions to plaza activations and much, much more.

Artemest’s Stylish Setup

Artemest, the online purveyor of Italian design and craft, took the Fuorisalone as an opportunity to display its varied wares in the prima setting: a 1930s Milanese apartment in the buzzing 5vie neighborhood. For the installation, aptly named L’Appartamento, they tapped six interior designers to appoint spaces in different styles. In a chic studio by French designer Anne-Sophie Pailleret delightfully bulbous, rather futuristic seating is surrounded by the original leather Hermès wall covering that wrapped the room. Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Rabah Saeid, founder of Styled Habitat, took her space into a dreamier direction, finding inspiration in the 1930s architecture of the space.

Artemest was founded in 2015 by Marco Credendino and Ippolita Rostagno with the aim of celebrating and sustaining Italian craftsmanship. It is a leading online marketplace for contemporary luxury design products and the largest network of Italian high-end artisans and small luxury brands. The platform provides a carefully curated collection in the quest to support highly skilled producers to adapt to the new digital economy, giving international visibility to some of the best products in the world. In order to successfully accomplish this objective, it has set up a full-service one-of-a-kind offer, of which artemest.com is the showcase.
